Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the importance of giving top priority to public welfare projects and ensuring quality and transparency in ongoing development initiatives. Chairing a high-level meeting on current fiscal year's uplift projects, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to focus on projects that promote the development and prosperity of youth and women's empowerment.
The meeting, attended by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, PM's Adviser Ahad Khan Cheema, PM's Special Assistants Malik Ahmad Khan, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and other relevant authorities, aimed to assess progress on development work in fiscal year 2023-24. Detailed briefings were provided on measures for youth and women's progress and prosperity, as well as the development of agriculture, industries, infrastructure, and other sectors.

Prime Minister Shehbaz instructed the timely completion of all projects, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive report on the related mechanisms. The meeting also discussed the launch of PM's Merit Scholarship initiative nationwide, including in Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. Under the PM's Youth Programme, the distribution of laptops among talented youth will commence soon.
In terms of agriculture development, the Prime Minister called for the early initiation of the solarization process for tube wells. Additionally, he urged expediting progress on mega projects for public welfare. Special attention to uplift backward areas during the current fiscal year was also emphasized by the Prime Minister.
